Navigating Maroon Archaeology  The history of marronage in the USA is significant, but often overlooked. The lack of widespread recognition and heritage about maroonage is attributed to histories downplayed or erased in historical records. What does exist across various archives requires significant effort to piece together. Archaeology plays a role in highlighting these maroon stories. Bria R. Brooks is the public archaeologist with the Northwest regional office of the Florida Public Archaeology Network. She holds a Master of Arts in anthropology at the University of West Florida.

PAS Lecture Series membership meetings will be held from 7-8 pm in the Activities Building (Choir Room) at TRINITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH at 3400 Bayou Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32503 www.trinitypcola.org.  Entry to the Choir Room for PAS meetings will be through the back door under the covered entrance.  The meeting begins at 7 PM. This door will be unlocked ONLY from 6:30 to 7:30 PM for security reasons. No pre-registration is required for the lectures.
