Human life does not end at the water’s edge and Florida’s coastline has been changing for millennia. The ocean depths hold clues to Florida’s past, both from shipwrecks and evidence of human’s on the water, but also from places where people used to live, that were dry land thousands of years ago but are now submerged due to changing climate and sea levels. In this talk, we’ll explore how underwater archaeology works – how do you write notes underwater? And we’ll explore some of the underwater sites along Florida’s Gulf Coast that help us understand Florida’s rich past.
