This talk explores the rich rock art heritage found in El Yunque National Forest, Puerto Rico, through the lens of Landscape Archaeology. Focusing on petroglyphs and pictographs, the presentation examines how these artistic expressions serve as direct connections to Puerto Rico’s Indigenous past. By using phenomenological approaches, the study investigates the relationship between the rock art panels and the surrounding landscape, offering new insights into the lived experiences of Indigenous people in the pre-contact period. The talk emphasizes the importance of avoiding biased historical interpretations and opens the door to further research in Caribbean Landscape Archaeology.

Esta charla explora la rica herencia de arte rupestre encontrada en el Bosque Nacional El Yunque, Puerto Rico, a través de la Arqueología del Paisaje. Centrándose en petroglifos y pictografías, la presentación examina cómo estas expresiones artísticas sirven como conexiones directas con el pasado indígena de Puerto Rico.
