About the Conference

The Cemetery Resource Protection Training Conference is a two-day event focused on preserving Florida’s historic cemeteries—particularly those from African American and other marginalized communities. Attendees will gain practical skills and knowledge through workshops, networking, and expert-led sessions.

Registration

Registration includes the full 2-day conference, the first day consists of speakers and a catered evening reception and awards ceremony. The second day consists of field activities in a local cemetery. Registration is coming soon!


Keynote

We are honored to welcome our keynote speaker, Dr. Antoinette Jackson (USF, Black Cemetery Network)

Dr. Antoinette Jackson is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa and Director of the USF Heritage Research Lab. She is also the Founder and Director of The Black Cemetery Network and leads the African American Burial Grounds & Remembering Project, an ongoing USF research study which addresses the erasure of historic black cemeteries in the Tampa Bay area. Her most recent book, Heritage, Tourism, and Race—the Other Side of Leisure was published by Routledge in 2020.
